There are several routes to accessing the information products provided by Polar View. These are listed below, but we would encourage you to contact us with any specific requirements you may have.

  1. Download the required products directly from the website.
The map view web interface (shown below) provides links to download each of the information layers displayed in the left hand menu. In addition to options to toggle layers on/off, the arrow to the right of each information layer allows the current layer to be downloaded directly or display options for download.

  2. Open standard web services
You can access various Polar View layers via our WMS and WFS compliant data feeds. These feeds can easily be imported into your desktop GIS tools (e.g. QGIS or ArcGIS) or displayed in web mapping applications (e.g. OpenLayers). There is currently no authentication for required for accessing the data. The native projection of all layers is EPSG:3031 (Antarctic Polar Stereographic) Projection.

  3. Polar View layers are also available via Google Earth. Links to the KML layers are provided below. These automatically update to simply add to your list of 'places' and they will stay current. If you have the plugin installed then you can also view many of the layers in an embedded Google Earth view.
